Botox information

Botox™ has been used for years to treat muscular problems. Including eye deviation, eyelid spasm and facial spasms

Aging is associated with the development of wrinkles and lines on the face. These lines develop as a result of weakened dermal collagen from sun exposure and gravity, or due to facial muscle activity on the skin.

BOTOX FOR FOREHEAD LINES AND CROWS FEET

Botox™ or botulinium toxin freezes or paralyzes muscles temporarily, it therefore can be used to treat facial lines caused primarily by the action of the muscles in the skin. The ideal wrinkles/ lines to treat are those that are caused by muscles that have no significant function, for example, the deep creases between the eye brows, the crows feet and forehead lines.

DOES IT HURT?

Most patients find the injections cause only mild temporary discomfort. You can take any over the counter pain medication, EG Paracetamol, Aspirin, Ibrobrufen etc as directed on the packet to relieve and discomfort.

HOW WILL I LOOK AFTER TREATMENT

Immediately after the injections there may be localised swelling which usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. A lump or swelling is normally present at each treatment site and is often accompanied by a small needle mark. This is normal and should not be cause for concern. it is not uncommon to experience some localised tenderness, aching , stiffness and heaviness at treatment sites, this too is normal and should not cause concern.

DO´S AND DON´TS AFTER TREATMENT

You may lay a cool wet facecloth or gauze pad over the treated areas but do not place heavy ice packs over them as this may result in unwanted spreading of the injected Botox™ into adjacent areas.
Do not press, rub or massage the treated areas for about 24 hours as this may also cause spreading to adjacent areas.
Excessive use of muscles for 2 hours after treatment helps to speed up the onset of the desired effect, and you should not lay flat for at least 4 hours after treatment.
We do not recommend that you fly within 24 hours of having Botox™ treatment

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects of this treatment are rare. Occasionally a temporary drooping of the eyebrow or lid may occur, but this only lasts a few weeks. Rarely a transient numbness may develop in the treated area or a temporary weakness of the muscles that control eye movement may cause double vision, but this is short lived. Some patients develop anti bodies or allergies to the botulism toxin but this is very unusual.
An extremely rare side effect may be generalised weakness and fatigue.
One study has shown that less than 3%of patients experience any of these complications.
Mild bruising may occur
If you are prone to cold sores at the injection site then treatment may cause another eruption. Finally any injection carries a small risk of infection. If you are pregnant or breast feeding this treatment is not recommended and Botox™ treatments are not recommended when taking certain antibiotics.

RESTYLANE INFORMATION

impressions of beauty change with time - as do our faces as we age. With RESTYLANE, you can have a natural beauty lift with the body's own material. RESTYLANE is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on a natural substance, called hyaluronic acid. The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin.

.What is RESTYLANE?

RESTYLANE is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds. RESTYLANE consists of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in your body. Once in the skin, RESTYLANE works by creating volume. Some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances. The hyaluronic acid in RESTYLANE is non-animal. How is a treatment performed?
During treatment, the crystal-clear RESTYLANE gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, RESTYLANE adds volume and shape to the treated area.
How long will the treatment session take?
Treatment with RESTYLANE is a very quick and easy process. As no pre-test is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately. A treatment generally takes 30 minutes. The time differs somewhat, depending on the correction you wish to have performed. What can be treated?
RESTYLANE can be used for smoothing out folds and wrinkles, lip enhancements and shaping facial contours. The most common areas are the glabeliar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, although other sites can also be treated. Very superficial or very deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult your physician for an assessment.
Does it hurt?
Most people find the injections relatively painless. They may prick a little. If you like, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area being treated prior to your procedure. When enhancing the lips, a local anesthetic injection is often given.
How soon will I see the results? The results can be seen immediately.
what will look like after the treatment?
immediately after the treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. After a lip treatment, the lips may become swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days (up to a week). If the discomfort continues, please contact your physician.
What should I bear in mind after my treatment with RESTYLANE?
During the first 48 hours after your treatment, do not massage or rub the treated area. If you have had a lip enhancement, avoid puckering your lips for the first two days after the treatment. Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. in a solarium or by sunbathing) or extreme cold.
Can RESTYLANE be removed?
No -However, RESTYLANE dissolves naturally with time. If you feel uncertain about the desired result, you can choose to have the treatment done in steps on different occasions.
Can RESTYLANE replace surgical procedures?
No. However, RESTYLANE is sometimes used in conjunction with surgery to fill out wrinkles that cannot be removed by surgery.
How can I get RESTYLANE treatment?
Contact your local practitioner for a consultation or the closest clinic which carries out treatment using RESTYLANE. They will answer your questions and help you reach a decision. As no skin test is needed you can have the treatment performed immediately after the consultation.
